Sonti Mndebele is a celebrated South African Afro Jazz singer, songwriter, and entertainer. Her musical journey began during her school days, and she turned professional in 1974. Due to political unrest, she went into exile in 1976, living in Botswana and later Germany. Throughout her career, she has performed with international icons like Peter Gabriel, Tina Turner, and Stevie Wonder.

Some of her career highlights include touring with Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba, participating in Paul Simon’s Graceland Tour, and performing at prestigious venues like the Royal Albert Hall and Madison Square Garden. After spending over 30 years abroad, she returned to South Africa to share her music with her people.

Biography

Exiled in 1976 from her homeland Sonti lived as a refugee in Botswana and Germany. Her gift and love for music has always been a thread that held her life together while in foreign lands for over 30 years. Her musical journey has given her an opportunity to share and make special appearances on stage with International music icons like Peter Gabriel, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, Elton John, Sade, Paul Simon and Donna Summer.
